After that it was back to Right Meow for the first BBQ aboard.

Todd had switched out all the fittings for the French one’s and had installed removable mounting on the cockpit stern (handily located so if your sausage rolled off it would end up in the dinghy and not be lost to the fishes!) It was a bon and productive jour!
We left the dock the next morning by 9 am and made our way out of the harbor and into the Mediterranean sea which was a glorious shade of aquamarine…There wasn’t any breeze so we ran the engines and popped the jib up (at which point were reminded that the furler line was too short and that it had been one of the list items since we bent the jib on earlier), and off we went to Collioure which was a short sail away. Ever since we had visited Collioure in June of last year and seen sail boats out on the moorings, we had imagined being on our boat out there. So when we got in and collected the mooring pendant, tied off and looked around at the stunning scenery, we were feeling pretty chuffed to have finally arrived, albeit over a year later!

We swam, paddle boarded, dozed on the trampoline, pinched ourselves a few times, and enjoyed the comings and goings of other boats and beach goer’s.

The boats generally came charging in and raced for a mooring, then slammed into reverse (or just had all hands on deck to try for the pendant and slow the boat if they were lucky enough to grab it!), tie off and promptly go ashore. The Port folks come around in an inflatable and take the moorage fee without requesting any documentation. Weather wise we had hot sun, cloud, and rain showers,(surprisingly dirty rain actually and we ended up doing a salt water wash down.) By the next day we had decided that we would extend the visit and enjoy the charms of Collioure for another night, after all, there wouldn’t be any work done on the boat until Monday so why rush back? I took the paddle board out and got a few photo’s of the boat, then Todd put the dinghy in and dropped me ashore to pick up some fresh bread and anchovies, and where I took more pictures of the boat of course! The day drifted by and dinner in the cockpit was a tasty pick-up affair with a big salad and smoked duck breast, crusty fresh bread and stinky cheese, followed by wine on the trampoline while we watched the moon rise…and possibly a bit more wine after that if I recall…It was a very relaxing and much needed break from being at the dock. More later…
