It’s that time again and Todd and I are back in Sicily working through the de-winterizing and pre-cruising list’s on Right Meow.
The first 2 weeks have gone by in a blur of deep cleaning, sourcing and ordering parts, catching up with sailing friends, and tackling some of the quicker projects. The weather has been cool and clear more or less, with some stiff breezes one week and calm the other. The temperature inside the boat is in the low 50’s, so we broke down and got a little area heater. (This is also further proof that we shouldn’t expose this boat to snowy, frosty climes, and just follow summer around the globe!).
There was a national P-Class regatta here at Marina Di Ragusa one weekend, and we had front row seats to watch all the youth racers head off in the mornings. Like typical Italian driver’s, this was accomplished at high speed with lot’s of hand gestures, but they were well behaved (exhausted), on the return in the afternoon.
Here’s Right Meow at her winter berth, and a view down M Dock where our boat wintered well under Daz’s watchful eye. Below you can see the transformation during the P-Class regatta, with the little boats taking over the area, then jockeying for position as they headed out for the races.
