After the weather improved, we planned to head south down the coast of Ithaca and find another anchorage a few hours away. Instead we had wind on the nose in that direction so we turned north and sailed downwind for 20 minutes before the wind changed again. After that it was a good 3 hours of tacking but we thoroughly enjoyed it in the pretty surrounds and good breeze. After navigating the very windy, but fortunately short stretch between the NE coast of Cephalonia and the NW coast of Ithaca, we poked our nose into 2 bays before finding a little gem of a cove south of Palaiokaravo. We got the lines to shore and secured, and then helped Polaris into position. There wouldn’t be room for another boat so we figured we would finally have the place to ourselves, a rare treat!
The next morning was calm so paddle boarding before breakfast was the activity of choice, followed by a hike (Virginia and Kate) down the road to Friko Bay and back. It was a good hilly walk and we were serenaded by goats with their bells ringing. There was also a few moments of excitement when we surprised a grey snake that was sunning itself on the road side. It took off up a tree cruising across the leafy branches like it was solid ground, I think Kate jumped up and out 6 feet when she saw it, and I made a detour as well! On our return it was a swim and then hull cleaning. Meanwhile, Tom and Camilla on Bon Bini had sailed down to Zakinthos Island and visited the much lauded Wreck Bay. They sent us a photo of it (below), and we hoped we would get there when we returned from the Aegean.

It was the perfect night for a BBQ and a great way to finish up a fun day, so Todd got it set up on the stern and we enjoyed chicken kebabs, salad, and roasted spuds in the cockpit. This was one of those days that was exactly as advertised in the cruising magazines!
Love that you are enjoying some of our favourite islands!
