The first thing we noticed were all the jelly fish. It was amazing to see them covering the surface of the bay, like smooth brown stepping stones. Apparently they breed here during August, and seemed to be most active mornings and late afternoons.
Although there were more boats around the town quay and in Tranquil Bay opposite the town, there was plenty of space in the big bay where we were.
It was nice to be back in a familiar territory, and Todd had been chomping at the bit to get to the local chandlery at Nydri for supplies. (We needed to replace our anchor bouy, and there were a few more small items he was looking for). It was also a good chance to walk around and get some shore-based exercise, top up the fresh food locker and do more maintenance jobs (winch servicing, water maker trouble shooting..yes the new one had some quirks..) in the relative cool of the morning. It was unbearably hot for the 2 days we were there, but when the sun went down people started moving around again, and we took the dinghy to a Taverna ashore for a wonderful fresh grilled fish dinner. (Sometimes you just don’t want to increase the temperature in the boat by cooking, and the Taverna’s provided fresh local fare at reasonable prices).
I had used this picture in the earlier post when we first visited Vlikho Bay in May but it gives a good view of the area so here it is again!
