This winter we were going to store the boat out of the water (on the hard), in order to do some below-water-line maintenance and apply new bottom paint before launching next season. The Aktio boat yard in Preveza offered the best rate and the ability to do your own boat work, or even use outside vendors if you wanted. They also provided power and water at the boat, and a decent shower/bathroom facility for those of us staying aboard in the “tree house”. We had done a lot of the winterizing jobs but there was still a hefty list of washing out lockers, washing all the lines and canvas, oil changes and flushing of systems. Then there was the interior scrub down, packing, and vacu-sealing bedding and cushions. We spent 4 nights aboard once the boat was out of the water getting things squared away..it felt good to cap the season with a big boat clean!
After saying goodbye to Right Meow, we took a taxi to Athens for a few days of RnR and a spot of culture, as we hadn’t made it there all season.
