Season Five

2020 Season 5…Delayed

Hi folks,

We hope everyone is well and if not still working, utilizing the new found down time reading, cooking, learning, keeping in contact with friends and family, and tackling some spring cleaning and yard chores as the weather allows.

It looks like season 5 is currently on hold, as is much of normal life in the current pandemic. We are thankful the boat is out of the water at the yard in Greece, with relative security and a good office contact. Once again our boat insurance has been dropped ( not sure why all US flagged boats under 500,000$ are being dropped from  insurer’s), and we find ourselves in the same position as last season, scurrying to find new coverage.

It is a difficult time to be cruising with many ports and borders closed. We have friends on boats in St Maarten ( isolated for 2 weeks with only grocery excursions allowed, now extended to a month, but fortunately in a protected anchorage), and the Grenadines, (who can still move around the anchorages a bit but not leave the country.) They are enjoying warm water and some of the usual activities, but report that it has been difficult to find fuel, and groceries are very expensive. It’s a bit lonely out there, but cruisers are a resourceful bunch and generally prepared to take care of themselves.

We will let you know our plan as things progress over the next month (or 2…).

Best to everyone, Todd and Virginia
