Season Five

2020 SEASON 5 : Packed and Probed!

We had a lot of people assisting us with sourcing the COVID PCR tests and it all came together in the end. Thanks to Dr Ron Krauss and the crew at MDVIP, you guys went the extra mile! Also thanks to Nancy’s great contacts at the local Woman’s Clinic for all the information about local testing options in WI.

We ended up doing a home saliva PCR test which we ordered through Vaulthealth.com, which was recommended, and took on Friday. That way, if we were positive we would have had time to cancel our flights etc. Both came back negative, as expected!

Today we did a drive-up nasal swab test in Burnsville MN, and they promise the results in the next 24 hours so we should be sorted for the transfer through Paris. (The nasal swab was a bit of a brain tickle but our eyes have stopped watering now so all good!)

Tonight I’m just hanging out in a hotel near the Minneapolis airport with our 4 big bags of boat gear. Todd flies up early tomorrow from WI, after he dropped me this afternoon and returned his truck to his Dad’s for storage. Hopefully tomorrow night we’ll be snoozing at altitude as we wing our way back to Greece!

Oh, I spent the last month trying my hand at editing the first season of the blog into a self published book called “A Catamaran From Catalonia”….probably shouldn’t quit my day job just yet but it was fun to feel like I accomplished something over the summer! (I’ve  added a link on the “BOOK AVAILABLE”  page, which will take you straight to the book on Amazon. It can be read on any device if you download the free Kindle App.)

Once we land, get SIM cards, clean and unpack at the boat, organize rudder bearing replacements and bottom paint, and get a survey for the new boat insurance, there should be a cruising season to blog about after all!
