2020 SEASON 5 : Back In The Tree House

We made it!

The flights from the US to Paris were great, with lots of spacing between seats and very clean planes.

Paris to Athens was the opposite..but we sanitized our areas and kept masks snug.

Our letter from the Greek Consular office was only checked at the Delta counter in MN. France only checked our PLF (passenger locator form for Greece). Air France collected a health form we filled out on board but not the one we had to download or the one we filled out pre flight.

We had our temperatures checked before boarding the international flight, and finally, upon arrival in Greece they checked our COVID test results. 90 % of the flight did a test on arrival.

The most exciting thing that happened was our driver Costa’s got pulled over by the cops as we were leaving the airport. It was a hot 40 minutes in the 95 deg heat..and wondering if they were going to impound the car. In the end they removed his license plates and fined him for a “malfunctioning meter”. He was pretty calm and half way back had a call from his lawyer who apparently was confident he could get the fines dropped.

It was 10 pm Tuesday night when we arrived at the Aktio boat yard opposite Preveza Greece. It had been 11 months since we left the boat and there was plenty of grime to show for it.

The past 5 days have been full of cleaning, unpacking, and stowing. Progress has been made on the maintenance list as well.

We are very happy to be back at the boat. Hopefully rudder bearing replacements, dagger board well fiberglass repairs, and boat survey, get tackled in the next week…

People are out and about but not nearly as busy as last year. Masks are being worn inside buildings etc. We are not leaving the compound and continue with temperature monitoring for another week before venturing anywhere, but feel fine other than jet lag. We will let you know how it goes…
