The past week was another busy one here on Right Meow. The rudders and bottom have new antifouling paint and are looking spiffy. The old upper and lower rudder bearings have been cut ( and walloped with a big hammer) out and the new ones fiberglassed back in. Repairs are underway in the dagger board wells, and where the rudder posts enter the rudders.
The boat survey happened on Saturday and we are waiting for the complete report so we can forward to the insurance agent. All the gel coat is being polished so future boat washing will be a breeze, and it’s great to see her looking shiny again.
Todd has been busy cleaning up wiring, adding a new AIS system, and a new compass for the autopilot, as well as generator servicing, and switching out fan’s in the salon for a Canadian brand “Kafrano” that use less power, push more air and are easy to clean. And he replaced the outboard starter motor so I won’t get stranded again! The sail drives have had new seals and a service too. We thought we might splash on friday or saturday but there’s another “Medicane” setting up, so we will sit tight until that passes!

It has been over 90 F every day for the past week and any job gets a good sweat up! Mornings, evening’s and night’s, the local mosquito’s are on the prowl and we have rigged up a screen for the salon door as well as the one for our bunk. Our 2 new USB rechargeable bug zappers are earning their keep!

Hopefully we get in the water early next week, get our cruising taxes paid and start our transit log again. There will also need to be the engine and water maker start ups, a new main halyard run, battens back in the main sail, and sails back up…probably a few other items I’m forgetting before we can finally go sailing..but we are getting closer by the day!
