Todd got busy getting the fridge and freezer turned on. The freezer came on with no issues but the fridge didn’t. Fortunately we had a good refrigeration guy that we had used last season for the freezer, and he came around the next day and fixed a leak in the dryer (not real sure what that is, but once it was sorted the fridge cooled down quickly!)
After that we decided to head to the anchorage and maybe put some sails up. Todd was planning to put the port electric winch back together since he had picked up the new motor, gearbox, and flange.

We finally had first swims on October 3rd and the water was still nice! I happily swam forward to check the anchor, which was easy to locate with the bright yellow paint we had put on the bar. This was after the starboard engine room bilge pump was going off when we were anchoring. It turned out the engine siphon valve was clogged. Cruising is never dull eh what!
Todd got the winch put back together only to discover that the Harken “brain” was bad and the clutch wasn’t engaging..more parts to order. Sunday was supposed to be a lazy day but the generator didn’t fire up as expected and didn’t seem to be getting fuel. Todd diagnosed the likely culprit as the fuel pump and possibly the primary filter which was due for a change. There also appeared to be a fuel leak in an inaccessible location. Parts and a mechanic were needed for this job.
Thankfully our Canadian mates Doug and Sandy were coming over for a Sunday BBQ dinner. Grilled chicken kebabs, grilled peppers, and a yummy pesto pasta salad with rocket and zucchini. Thus the end of the day was fun even if there had been a bit of a grey cloud hanging over the boat earlier, friends make everything better!
YIKES…good thing Todd started messing around with mechanical things at 2 years old. (Todd, sorry for another Little Todd story.)
With adventure comes challenge. You guys keep your cool, and enjoy all the pleasure savoring the BBQ+ aspects.
