We got a sneak peak of Lake Skadar on our way to Kolasin between Cetinje and Podgorica
When a 3 day stretch of calmer weather presented itself, we decided to make the most of it and headed for the mountains. The marina offers a Lodge for the use of yacht crews, and those of us wintering aboard in Porto Montenegro. There was a 2 person room available so we booked it for a Monday night. (It turned out to be very clean and warm, with twin beds and a 1970’s Chalet vibe. Tuesday night we opted for a hotel room with a bathtub for apre ski soaking, which was wonderful!)
The route passed over, around, and through the mountains, and went by the old capital of Cetinje and the new capital of Podgorica. We could see that a new bypass was being constructed and drove under a massive bridge with a big flag of Montenegro painted on one of the support columns. Not far from the base of the bridge, there was a construction village set up with signage in Chinese. A Chinese company was building the first phase of the bypass and had brought the labor with them. Unfortunately the project to connect land locked Serbia to the Port of Bar may not get finished…
