We had a 3 day stretch of dry days and promptly got busy with some re bedding/caulking projects. These were facilitated by new access panels in our aft cabins that the talented guys over at Yacht & Home Montenegro 2020 SEASON 5 : Glitches and Good Stuff (the guys who did our cockpit enclosure) made for us. They cut out some of the fixed head liners and added a removable section so we could get to the deck fittings for the sail track, pad eyes, line races, and line organizers.
Sikaflex comes with UV protection which does help the longevity, and is a good, if messy product. A great tip from Sandy on the Canadian flagged Privilege 49 Sah Sen, is to use baby wipes for getting errant smears of the goo off clothing and body parts, and it works like a charm!
The last cold spell also increased condensation under our mattress(es) so we pulled the boards and gave them a coat of Bullseye brand anti mold/ mildew paint. We still need to tip the mattresses on their sides to air them out every morning, but at least the boards are sealed now. We also have some plastic tiles to help vent the area. As the Mediterranean summers have been hot and dry, we haven’t had a moisture issue before wintering aboard.
