Covid restrictions increased last week for 15 days starting February 11th. There are non-essential store closures including bars, restaurants, and gym’s. This is the first time since we arrived that the gym’s have closed. Grocery stores are open with restricted hours, and travel out of the town is limited to those who need to do so for work. Except for the gym, we haven’t been too effected as we had snow flurries on Saturday, and high wind gusts to 60 knots on Sunday, and it’s been too cold to go anywhere!
We did well in our slip considering we heard of some other boats that had pulled out cleats, had lines part, and struck the dock. This includes the Black Pearl who broke a line and struck the dock during a 63 knot gust. (The captain posted a short video on Instagram where he talks about the incident at #S/YBlackPearl on instagram.)
We feel badly for everyone who had damage, but fortunately no one was hurt. The Marineros are a hard working bunch, and we saw them out day and night checking and re securing boats throughout the marina. Not much you can do about hardware failure though. (We had a mooring chain break last season during one of the few times we were at a dock, 2019 SEASON 4 : Kalamata Marina, Diros Caves )
