Season Six

2021 SEASON 6 : Top 10 Useful Sites, Guides, and Ideas for Your Croatian Cruise

There are quite a few websites and guides available to help get you started on planning your cruise through Croatia. Here are our top 9 (plus 1 idea) for you….

  1. The US Embassy. https://hr.usembassy.gov/covid-19-information-2/ Yep, gotta check the status of travel and this has been a good resource.
  2. Your fellow sailors!! It’s a great idea to have a natter on the dock with folks who have recently arrived from the destination you are heading too. They often have great tips on anchorages, restaurants, provisioning, and can give an idea of how the procedures are handled at each port.
  3. The Adriatic Pilot: Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, East Coast of Italy, Albania. Trevor and Dinah Thompson, Imray. This has in depth information about anchorages and town quays, fuel, and clear in/out procedures, typical weather patterns, and includes some history of the various areas. There are plenty of photos, and it is now in it’s 8th edition.
  4. Noonsite https://www.noonsite.com/place/croatia/formalities/ This not for profit website does a good job of providing basic information and links to assist planning. Comments from fellow cruisers help give further clarification
  5. Noforeignland https://www.noforeignland.com/ is a social network site for sailors and is a great way to get boots on the ground intel about anchorages from people who have been there, or are currently there. It’s also a convenient way to track your buddies boats!
  6. Sunsail.co.uk.This might seem odd to add a charter boat company, but it gives you some ideas about cruising itineraries. You can then decide which days might be less crowded at a favorite location when the Flotillas are elsewhere!
  7. Harbour Guide – Croatia-Montenegro-Slovania, Emma Glaumann, Joakim Hermansson, Pet Hotvedt, Imray 1st edition 2016
  8. Navily https://www.navily.com/ is a social cruising guide, similar to Noforeignlands but it allows you to book marina slips and mooring buoys, in addition to information from other cruisers about anchorages. We haven’t used it to book berths, but we will cross reference different anchorage information here sometimes.
  9. If you want to coordinate your visit with specific festivals, try here for ideas https://www.roughguides.com/croatia/festivals-holidays
