Just down from the Pile gate entrance to Old Town Dubrovnik, was the recessed entry to an old Franciscan Monastery. The entrance was non descript but once inside it was a very peaceful space with an interior garden.

There were several frescos painted above the archways and colomns

At the back of the building was a small museum with various religious and apothecary relics..there was also a mortar hole through the stone wall, and on the wall opposite was a divot where it finally landed. It was a sobering experience.
The apothecary was near the entrance and offered some hand crafted lotions and balms in addition to the usual pharmaceutical stuff. I was happy to find a bottle of “Swedish Bitters” that apparently cures everything!

WOW the garden is very Alhambra-ish. Beautiful!!!
