Season Six

2021 SEASON SIX : Zuljana to Loviste

The Painted wall of the Sports Center in Zuljana

After an eye opening brisk dip, we headed off to find a protected anchorage. The next 5 days were going to be switching between SE, SW, W, and NW to NE. Many of the switches would be happening after dark, and rain and thunderstorms were likely.

The Port head solenoid fizzled which meant no water for flushing, so we were down to the one head on Starboard..always good to have a spare!

The next little adventure was dealing with the Code 0 halyard which was badly twisted again when we went to raise the sail, which was frustrating. We got it back on deck and stowed before getting the jib out for a few hours of downwind sailing through the Korcula channel.

Korcula was a pretty island and we were seeing a lot more charter boats in the area. After looking at a few of the anchorages on Korcula, we decided to head on to Loviste at the end of the Peljesac Peninsula. It had good all around protection and anchoring options instead of mooring buoys, and we could stay put for a while.

Korcula Town

Towards the end of the channel we saw a bunch of windsurfers on the water which made us think it was getting windy ahead. There was a foiling board that was planing easily in the 13 to 16 knot breeze while the standard boards were slogging. They were all in full wetsuits. The wind picked up to the 20s and as we rounded the point, a southbound mono hull with full canvas passed us with a rail in the water.. hopefully no one was trying to make sandwiches below!

The Outer Bay of Loviste was good for the First Night’s Southeasterly
