Season seven

2022 TESTING AND A CAVE TOUR…

Anchored in Tivat Bay

We finally got off the dock and tested systems for a few days mid week. It was a nice chance to swim and see the boka from a different perspective. There were quite a few boats during the day but only a handful of us spent the night.

The water was a refreshing 77 F which was the perfect temp to counter the high 90s we were still having. We also had a go at towing each other on a foiling board.

It felt like you were way up in the air once it started foiling, and we were reminded that water gets “harder” the higher off the water you are or the faster you go!

We finally managed to get a rental car organized for 2.5 days, (no easy feat in the summertime), and took the opportunity to visit one of Montenegros cave systems near the old capital of Cetinje.

Stalagmites, Stalactites were sprinkled throughout the system. There were also flat sheets, textured curtains, spaghetti, and popcorn to be found on the surfaces.

The Castle Formation in Lipa Cave

Lipa Cave was pretty terrific and our guide Daniella was a hoot. It was also a relief to spend some time in the natural air conditioning of the cave system, and the colors and formations were interesting too!

The alternate road back to Tivat wound over the mountains and through small stone villages. We got to see more of the countryside and it gave us the chance to pull in and have lunch at a rustic Konoba. Yep, we had the grilled lamb again. Actually we passed through a flock of them on the hoof as we decended into the valley, which reminded us of New Zealand road trips.

Looking Down at Kotor From The Old Road to Tivat

The last stretch of road down the mountain had over 20 hair pin turns. It would have been fun on a motorbike!
