We had a mostly smooth 53 hour passage from Tivat Montenegro to Siracusa Sicily. The promised breeze didn’t show up, so there was a lot more motor sailing than we had hoped.
The best fun happened off of Albania when we hooked a yellowfin tuna. It was a good size but wiley with it, and jumped and shook the hook as soon as it saw me with the gaff on the stern step…so close!

When it did blow it was only for 6 hours but right on the nose.
The pad eye holding the outhaul, the mainsheet strops, and lazy bag in place, broke. There was no using the mainsail for the last 12 hours. This occurred at 2 am when we were bashing against the waves and wind. I say ‘we’ but I was off watch enjoying a good snooze, after a lovely calm 3 hours earlier when it was my turn.

And unbelievably hot! We arrived around 1.30 pm and got anchored in the bay. Todd took off to get us cleared in and I tidied up. Soon he was back to collect me as the Port Police needed to see me. After a quick check-in, I picked up a new SIM card and we headed back to the boat. The heat was overpowering any motivation so we chose cold showers an early dinner and off to bed.
We had one more day in the bay to replace the pad eye and change out fuel filters. Both engines shut off when we decreased the rpms prepping for anchor, which was disconcerting as they didn’t restart quickly. Hopefully that will take care of the problem!
Get some rest and have your mechanic fix any issues. Hope the fuel filters fix the issue.
