Victor Depaz founded the distillery in 1917, 15 years after the eruption of Mt Pelee caused the deaths of the rest of his family and many others.
The sugarcane grown on the flanks of Mt Pelee has been used for the production of Rhum Depaz ever since. The Chateau, grounds, and distillery buildings are open to the public for a small fee. This includes includes a free tasting after the self tour.

We preferred the oldest rums for sipping and the lighter rums for mixing. Our friends Alex and Pauline, who were with us, gave us a bottle to remember our fun day. We’ll see if we can age it aboard as we sail around the Caribbean….

Maybe there is a rum heaven!
That Rum sounds yummy. Looks like you two are enjoying the Caribbean the right way!
We’re looking for to seeing you this summer.
Smooth sailing!
