We collected an old friend from our west coast sailing days, and after a last night in Red Shanks, made our way back up toward the southern Cays. The original plan was to sail up in the southerly breeze and anchor off Boise Cay for the afternoon. Our Sister Ship had told us of a blow hole that was fun to observe from a close in anchorage. As we were sailing down the channel in Elizabeth Harbor, we heard a report that the sea state was 5-7 feet from the North. Which would likely close out the entry through the cut. So we pulled into the anchorage at Goat Cay and enjoyed the surrounds.

The southerly breeze died throughout the day, and the afternoon was calm, warm, and good for swimming. We caught up with some other friends anchored there for the past week, and had a nice time chatting over a sundowner.

The next morning, we had a fun sail up to Boise Cay in 12 to 14 knots of Westerly breeze under a clear blue sky. The Cut was calm, and we were soon anchored off the beach and enjoying the show.

After swims and a look around for Conch ( none to be found), we had a nice dinner and hit the hay.
The sail back the next day in the 13-16 knots of North wind was another fun one. It was completely overcast as another milder Front was passing through, but lots of boats were moving North and South, taking advantage of good conditions.
On return to the Georgetown area, we found a spot to anchor off the “Da Sand Bar” Beach, as the rest of the shore of Stocking Island had filled up with boats again.
Todd got a text from another friends boat for a consult on a winch job, so off we went in the dinghy. They were also from the West coast sailing community, and we all knew each other. Last season, we had spent some fun days with Norm and Terry in the Abacos. They had since upgraded boats, and were busy with the mirad of little jobs that need tackling before a new boat is finally running the way you want it to! However, they were sure enjoying the extra space aboard!
Steph left the next day after a fun visit with good weather, and a chance for me to “get all my words out” as Todd noted, cheeky bugger!

It’s so wonderful to catch up with old friends and have a good sailing experience. You two couldn’t be there at a better time! After you swim in the salt water do you have to shower with fresh water? Just wondering???
We are finally getting dryer and warmer weather in SW Florida. It’s been a cold and rainy January and February so far 🥴.
Be safe,
Christine
