After clearing the border crossing to Gibraltar, we had to wait for the airport runway to clear before walking across to the town. It was an active runway, so pedestrians had to cross between the take-offs and landings.

We passed through the cobble stone streets with high-end stores on either side, quaint restaurant- flanked squares, and duty free smokes and liquor stores. Quite a few were closed on Sunday, which seemed odd for such a major international port town.
Our main mission in Gibraltar, was to take the cable car up to see the monkey’s. Unfortunately we were caught in a 3 hour rain storm, and had to seek shelter in an English pub (with an assortment of British and German tourists), where we enjoyed excellent pies and fish and chips. Little Isla was a big hit, and she entertained everyone for the duration of our visit. As soon as it cleared enough to continue on, we walked up to the cable car base..alas, it was closed due to high winds, dang it, no monkeys after all!
