Sounion was on the peninsula South West of Athens and under the shadow of the Temple of Poseidon. It was a special place and we spent a lovely evening anchored here, enjoying the backlit temple and shooting stars from the trampoline.

Bon Bini and Polaris headed off to Kithnos the next day, while we went around to Olympic marina for a night. (This was a possible place to leave the boat over the winter so we thought we would check it out while we were in the vicinity). There was also the need to clear in and get our tourist log stamped at the customs office (we had actually tried to do this in Poros but they sent us away without a stamp after we paid up for the next 2 months of the cruising tax). It was unbearably hot, so we took a short cab ride to Lavrion where the port offices were. One kind officer gave us 6 plumbs to enjoy “for the water”, and even offered to drop us back at the marina. With stamped tourist log in hand, we headed back to tackle the laundry and a major boat scrub.
We left the dock early and motored in no wind to Kea, one of the islands in the Northern Cyclades, just above Kithnos. We found a great little cove and spent 2 days free anchored, snorkling, swimming and generally staying cool!
Well done, all sailors should pay hommage to the Temple of Poseidon. Am sure you were blessed…the shooting stars were proof.
