The anchorage off the town was fairly weedy, so we puttered around until dropping on a decent sandy patch in 20 feet. (There were some other spots closer to shore but there was a wiff of sewage that put us off).
Corfu town was a nice surprise, feeling both cosmopolitan and beachy. There were flagstone streets and large shade tree’s, fronting the flat-faced stone buildings common in much of Europe. We spent the hot part of the day meandering through the Asian Muesum, housed in the Palace of St Michael and St George. It was a gorgeous building, and housed a good sized (private, if I recall), collection.

There was a good selection of restaurants, shops, and tavernas, around an open grassy park a short walk from the dinghy dock. We indulged in grilled sardines, charred octopus, and more of the flavorful lamb dishes, before Dian headed back to Athens after a very relaxing visit. It was a good test of the boat systems which held up with the extra usage ( Dian was an excellent boat guest and didn’t run the water tank dry or inadvertently clog the head, which is a frequent occurence on boats).

Todd and I took a day to clean and reprovision before heading off to Sarande Albania, which was only a few hours away.
