We left Gouvia in very calm conditions, cruising up past the North Eastern coast of Corfu. This section had several pretty anchorages and there was a late season flotilla of charter boats making the most of the mild weather. Once we had cleared out we weren’t supposed to stop and go ashore anywhere in Greece, so this part of Corfu would have to be seen at a later date.

It was a calm motor all day and we took the opportunity to fill the galley water tank. We deployed one of the fishing lines with a feather which had been the one that caught our tuna last season. An hour later we had our first fish! This was about a foot long tuna so I snapped a pic and Todd quickly released it. Midafternoon I saw a small pod of Dolphin’s fishing and frolicking while Todd was off watch. They made a bee line for the boat but then disappeared from sight, off on some other mission. I was off watch for only10 minutes, before the telltale “zzzzz” of the fishing line spooling out was followed by the engines being put in neutral. Todd had a good sized fish on the line!

It was so exciting to have a good fish on the line! Fortunately it was hooked really well because it jumped, flipped, and made several run’s before Todd got it to the boat. I had not used the gaff from the Catamaran before and admit to doing a pretty bad job of it..back when we were fishing from our previous boat in Mexico, I had a good track record for getting the fish aboard. It was a relief when we landed it, and the next hour was spent processing the fish and cleaning up “the murder scene” on the transom.
Thanks Poseidon!
Great scenery, adventure, fishing, and tales!
