I mentioned in an earlier post that the marina here in Tivat used to be a naval base. There are still a few nods to the previous history to be found around the area, like the 2 Yugoslav submarines we pass when leaving the North end of the property.
The Naval Heritage Museum building is to the Left of the submarines. https://portomontenegro.com/venues/naval-heritage-museum/ There are also well respected, state-of-the-art Maritime Training facilities available in Montenegro. Our boat neighbor Darko teaches at a maritime high school, where a 4 year degree is offered in 3 areas;
1. Nautical major ( Deck department )
2. Marine engineering major ( Engine department )
3. Freight transport and custom major
This training offers one of the best income generating professions available to the young people of Montenegro today. The other option is Tourism and Hospitality which is a primary industry here, but isn’t an essential one during a pandemic.
