Season Five

2020 SEASON 5 : Glitches and Good Stuff

The Glitches… well after switching to a self-hosted site and starting to work through that process, my computer which had been sub par since a September Windows update, slowly crashed. Todd spent a good deal of time reinstalling programs etc (smart fella!), and I appear to be up and running again. While we work through the self-hosting changes, there may be a few ongoing issues with previously subscribed followers missing updates. We are very sorry if that happens and we will continue to work on making the site more reliable. (Please just check the main site weekly until you notice that your updates are arriving again, thanks!)

Good Stuff…We are now sporting a spiffy new cockpit enclosure! The team over at Yacht & Home Montenegro https://www.yhmontenegro.me/ did a terrific job. As English is our only language, it can sometimes be difficult finding technicians/craftsmen with whom we can successfully communicate our vision. Thankfully, Raif and Engin were able to quickly ascertain our need’s and incorporated our design idea’s with some thoughtful additions of their own. We hadn’t really planned on adding the enclosure, but then we weren’t planning on wintering aboard the boat in a cold and wet part of the globe! Now we have a “Mud Room” for wind and rain protection, and an extra space to store wet gear. It seems to keep the salon warmer too.

The side curtains let light in and we can sail with them up in rain or rough conditions
The Dinghy Chaps Turned out Great!

More Good Stuff…Our dinghy returned last week after getting fitted for custom dinghy chaps. They will provide much needed sun and chafe protection, and was another upgrade that was long overdue. The folks who tackled this project were Daniel and Alex. https://boatservice.eu/ They did the Jib repair when we first arrived, and are originally from Russia. We were able to add a bumper for the bow, and reinforced pads to help snug the dinghy against the davits. Again, this was quality workmanship provided at a fair price, with good communication between parties. All expectations were met or exceeded with both of these projects. Either group could have handled the chaps and the enclosure, but as Alex, a friend of ours always reminds us, “you have to spread the wealth”!
