The weather reports were a little off so when we left Vis we had a motor, then a main and jib sail, then 10 minutes with the code 0, and back to main and jib. The Southerly came on late and made all the anchorages in the southern Pakleni islands we were heading to, full of breaking waves.
We dropped a lunch hook and had a swim ( still chilly), behind a small island and figured out the next option for the night. In the end we headed around the Western corner of Hvar island and up to the protected bay of Luka Thea. The wind was due to switch to a strong NW that afternoon and blow for 2 days.

We used a mooring the first night and anchored the 2nd night. Apparently the mooring field consession encompasses the whole area. Just a bugger that they took over the whole protected bay. We figured it was a good business here as most folks chartered for 1 to 2 weeks, but for the long term cruiser spending that sort of cash nightly was prohibitive.
While the wind blew, we watched boats trying to bash back up the channel from Stari Grad. It looked really uncomfortable and we were pretty happy to stay put, do some laundry and cleaning, and then a dinghy tour around the bay.
Just around the Western corner from us was a wonderfully eclectic Robinson Crusoe-esk compound that might have been a bar/restaurant. ( Zoom in to check out the drunken sailor made of driftwood)

After 2 days we used a brief Southerly breeze to sail over to the Trogir area. The winds were still in more of a spring than summer pattern so they were switching a lot and frequently blowing between 20 and 30 knots. We didn’t have a hard or fast plan for this cruise so we just went where and when the conditions were good!
