2022 OCTOBER…Prepping For Departure to The Canaries

Looking Through The Anchorage at Algeciras

We’re off the dock and anchored back in our old spot in the bay. It’s good to start getting our sea legs back after time at the dock, stow items we won’t need offshore, and scrub the props and hulls. The water temp is down to 68 deg which isn’t bad while busy scrubbing, but a tad chilly afterwards. If we get half a knot increase in speed, it’ll be worth it over a 600+ nautical mile trip!

The swell is supposed to subside tomorrow, so after the initial lumps and rumpty seas out of the gate here, it should be smooth for the remainder of the 4-5 day passage.

Likely The Anchorage will Empty Out as Boats Make The Most of The Calmer Conditions

It was a bit frustrating being delayed waiting for packages and then good weather. That’s a big part of cruising though. So much is out of your hands and planning ahead too far is futile. Right now it feels good to be prepping for the passage and getting back into the ” moving the boat” groove.
